I was a Girl Scout decades ago, now my 8-year-old daughter is a member of a local troop. I let her sign up to meet other little girls from her school and to get to know them outside of the classroom. I have so many wonderful Girl Scout memories. I loved camping, singing and crafts. It was great! I’m even in the Cookie Hall of Fame! I sold hundreds of boxes of Girl Scout cookies back in the day. But I confess.. I tried to rob my daughter of the great American activity that is selling Girl Scout cookies. Oh what a shame.
When I signed my 3rd grader up for scouting, the other moms said the greatest thing about their troop was NOT selling cookies. We all later found out that selling cookies is a Girl Scout requirement. Someone in the troop has to sell cookies! The troop leader left it up to the moms and daughters to decide who would pound the pavement armed with order forms for Thin Mints and Peanut Butter Patties. Well, having sold cookies before and knowing the amount of work that goes into it, I decided for the both of us to sit this year out. My daughter seemed okay with it at first, but as time went by and cookies came pouring in.. my daughter sank into Do si do despair. It was terrible. What I later found out was that selling cookies meant her very first Girl Scout badge. All she had to sell was one box to get the badge.
I had to fix this, so I went to the designated Cookie Mom in hopes of getting in on the action. Who knew the Girl Scouts had so many rules and regulations. We had already missed the deadline to sign up. The organization has to keep tabs on WHO is selling those cookies. Luckily, the Cookie Mom was able to get her approved quickly, and she was selling cookies the very next day. One home in our neighborhood bought 10 boxes! I don’t think I’ve ever seen my daughter so happy and confident. She was beaming with pride. I was Caramel Delited!
What I have learned from this is not to let my past experiences get in the way of my daughter’s accomplishments. I did not want to sell cookies, but I didn’t have to. She did ALL of the work. Just when I thought I knew my daughter, I was surprised by the mature little girl who wanted to take on a new challenge. This is the same little girl who can’t keep her room clean, but hey.. we’re working on that. I’m just so proud of the fact that she saw something she wanted to do and saw it through to the end. That’s exactly what I wanted her to learn by becoming a Girl Scout. So to Girl Scout Troop 1871.. Thanks-A-Lot!
I wouldve bought thin mints from her for my hubby as long as your werent outside of walmart:( he loves those and I just sent his last box to him in Afghanistan and got me some ginger snaps too!

Selling cookies & driving children to activities can seem to be a pain when you're doing it but just remember that these will be wonderful memories when you're old & gray! I'm a 64 yr. old mother of 2 & grandmother of 4 & to be perfectly honest with you I would give up thes wonderful experiences or memories for anything! Now I get to be "Granny" & have lots of fun with my grandchildren in whatever activity they are involved in. I'm also looking forward to be a great grandmother when they have their children.

Cooking quinoa is simple and is just like cooking rice. You can also prepare salads with quinoa as the base. With numerous quinoa salad recipes,Cookie extent and top grain marks decreased with increasing amounts of quinoa mixed with high-spread cookie flour. Flavor improved up to 20% quinoa flour in the blend. Cookie spread

I think adding dried fruit isn't such a minimal calorie increase, lots of sugar in dried fruit. Definitely walnuts works well, full of essential oils!
